I've not looked at Shelfari, but since it only uses Amazon data, I have no intentions of using it. With my persnickety cataloger mindset, I like accurate cataloging, which is not Amazon's forte.
Just browsed through Shelfari really quick and was unimpressed. LibraryThing's got more and better options. I like to catalog my sheet music and out of print books without having to input all the info by hand, which I'd have to do since Amazon doesn't carry most of the items I catalog. I sincerely hope Amazon doesn't squelch LibraryThing.
